The grape harvest 2009 : A promising vintage |
september 2009
Reduction in quantity in favour of greater quality
After a good year of weather, characterised by a pleasant spring which followed a long, cold and snowy winter, the summer, which made its return, has favoured optimum growth and maturation of the vine and its grapes. A few days before the harvest, we are enthusiastic.
The hot and sunny spell in the first half of April provided fast and consistent budding across Burgundy with dates more particularly close to those of 2005.
The heat wave which set in around 10 August caused ripening and set off fast maturing. Since then, thanks to optimum climatic conditions (sun and heat), maturing is following a very sustained pace leading to concentration within the grapes.
Tasting the grapes has already shown a most promising balance of sugar and acidity. The vineyard is in perfect health.
2009 is set to be a magnificent vintage: fruity, concentrated, balanced, powerful… This promising vintage is the fruit of a combination of ideal climatic conditions and controlled volumes. The harvest volume is estimated at 10 % less than in 2008.
All this gives further strength to the Burgundy legend that years ending in 9 produce great vintages.

Grape harvest 2008 |
october 2008
A release concerning the grape harvest 2008 :
As it is said in the advertising, Burgundy is a land blessed by gods : one more time, it has been verified.
After an August with a dull weather and a begining of September very wet, the wind from the North has risen. It has blown for 15 days, driying up the soils, concentrating sugars and drying the Botrytis.
The cool temperatures stopping it to grow up.
The grape harvest is a crucial period. Each vintner chooses the right moment to harvest according to the maturity of the vine and the climatic conditions.
The grape harvest, started on September 24 was taking place under ideal climatic conditions : a cool and dry weather.
A meticulous and efficient sorting of each grape, has allowed us to keep an healthy and a nice quality crop.
The first estimates, based on fermentation vats, give nice results : a good level of natural sugar, a good color exctraction and a nice fruit.
This vintage seems to have a great potential.
